The new developments in the travel industry in different Málaga towns caught everybody’s eye in the Costa del Sol Tourist Board’s stand on the second day at Fitur. The projects that got under way in Mijas, Benalmádena, and Ronda, among other towns, were introduced at the press room, in an event attended by our President, Salvador Pendón, and our Managing Director, Ana Gómez. The presentation was complemented with a series of food samplings: mollete from Antequera, Perota soup from Álora, and pork products from Serranía de Ronda.
Together with the Mayor of Mijas, Antonio Sánchez, Mr Pendón released the report on the integrated tourism promotion project “Vive Mijas” after its first year. They also mentioned a series of new developments which include “Mijas’s Jurapark,” a breakthrough initiative that combines a theme park with scientific knowledge in an attempt to bring fun and learning together.

According to Mr Pendón, the products and services available in Mijas are the perfect complement to the Costa del Sol travel offer. Both our President and Mr Sánchez stressed the need to keep working on public-private initiatives.”

After the presentation, all eyes focused on Málaga’s gastronomy. Whereas yesterday it was the anchovies from Rincón de la Victoria’s turn –served to whoever visited our stand–, this morning we had miller’s breakfast: molletes from Antequera, 200 helpings of Perota soup –Álora’s typical dish–, and pork products from Serranía de Ronda.

Other projects introduced on day two at Fitur were an interesting accessibility initiative and a series of new merchandising items introduced by the Ronda Town Hall, the Mozarabic Trail of Málaga (a road leading to Santiago de Compostela, rehabilitated within the Tourism Activation Plan for the Guadalteba and Guadalhorce Reservoirs of the Provincial Government of Málaga and the Federation of Jacobean Associations), and a bunch of ideas to boost Benalmádena’s image plus new information materials published by the Benalmádena Town Hall and renovation work in Plaza Solymar.

Parallel to these events, our staff are holding meetings with representatives of airlines, tour operators, and online travel agencies to share views on the domestic market and discuss marketing agreements.

Also on day two at Fitur, the Third Vice President of the Government of Spain and Minister of Territorial Cooperation, Manuel Chaves, visited our stand, where he was greeted by Salvador Pendón (also the President of the Provincial Government of Málaga) and by about twenty mayors from Málaga Province, who were there for promotional events. Likewise, our stand welcomed the Andalusian Minister of Culture, Rosa Torres, and several Málaga-born celebrities, the bullfighter and entrepreneur Javier Conde and the actresses Remedios Cervantes and Kiti Manver among them.
