Once again this year, Málaga Province is present in the International Tourism Trade Fair, Fitur, being held at the IFEMA convention centre in Madrid from January 20 to 24. The President of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board and Head of the Provincial Government of Málaga, Salvador Pendón, attended the fair’s opening ceremony. The opening of the Tourist Board stand was attended by the Minister of Equality, Bibiana Aído, the President of the Andalusian Government, José Antonio Griñán, and several authorities and businessmen from Málaga.
The Tourist Board’s 350-square-metre stand is located in the Turismo Andaluz space. Here the Tourist Board is to give information on all the municipalities in Málaga Province to travel professionals and general visitors alike. In addition, the stand features a conference room holding about 40 people, where some 20 press conferences and presentations by Town Halls, the Tourist Board, and the Provincial Government, among other institutions, have been scheduled to take place.
This morning, the Tourist Board signed a cooperation agreement with RENFE to strengthen joint promotion efforts for the Costa del Sol and the high-speed train (AVE) to Málaga. In the food sampling area, visitors could taste anchovies from Rincón de la Victoria –one of Málaga’s best-known dishes– and pork products from Colmenar.
The Tourist Board has attended Fitur this year on a 30% lower budget of €170,000. The event’s organisers have managed to keep the number of attending companies stable at 12,000, a figure similar to last year’s.
