A promotion focusing on the Costa del Sol as a tourist attraction in the French market was launched by the Tourist Board in Paris with the aim of increasing the inflow of French travellers. In an event at the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand, our representatives, led by our President, Salvador Pendón, showed tour operators and specialist media the travel products and services available on the Costa del Sol, where the financial crisis has affected and reduced the number of French visitors.
This year through September, "the number of French arrivals at Málaga Airport hasn't decreased as much as than the average for international markets," Mr Pendón said in his speech. Whereas the average fell by 7%, the French market showed a decrease of 2.5%.
"French tourists' loyalty to the Costa del Sol has remained higher than in other outbound markets," he added, highlighting the flights connecting Paris with Málaga and the Barcelona-Málaga high-speed train, which brings the Costa del Sol closer to southern France.
