Málaga Chamber of Commerce re-elected to preside over ASCAME Tourism Committee

The President of the Málaga Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Shipping, Jerónimo Pérez Casero, has been re-elected as President of the Tourism Committee of the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) at the Association’s 20th General Meeting, held in Beirut.

From November 19 to 21, a delegation of the Málaga Chamber of Commerce led by its President attended the meeting. The Costa del Sol Tourist Board sent Managing Director Ana Gómez to support the Málaga delegation.

Being present at the General was extremely important, for Tourism is one of ASCAME’s strongest committee, even if members of the Málaga Chamber of Commerce are part of other committees as well.

At the General Meeting, the contents were discussed of Meditur 2010, a forum for all ASCAME members and associated organisations to be held in Málaga. One of these contents was the designation of 2010 as the Year of Sustainable Tourism of the Mediterranean on the Costa del Sol.

The Málaga Chamber of Commerce is carrying out a series of cultural and yachting tourism projects (such as ETINET) with the authorities in Marseilles, Tangiers, and Tunisia. Meanwhile, Barcelona leads the project to create the Mediterranean brand name. All these initiatives will be launched at Meditur next year.

In addition, on the occasion of Meditur, the Málaga Chamber of Commerce, the Costa del Sol Tourist Board, and the Provincial Government of Málaga are signing a cooperation agreement on the forum’s institutional support.

On the first day of the ASCAME General Meeting, before the opening ceremony, there was a business meeting between Lebanese entrepreneurs and the representatives of the countries attending the event.

On day two, following the order of the day, a series of agreements were signed and a plenary was held to ratify all the decisions made at the different committee’s work sessions.
