2nd Madrid-Costa del Sol Masters Golf Tournament’s big success in La Moraleja

The eighth match of the 2nd Madrid-Costa del Sol Masters Golf Tournament was held at La Moraleja on 7 September. This Alcobendas-based golf club played host to the tournament’s first edition last year too.

Just like the matches before this one, the event was a huge success. There were so many registered golfers –220– that there had to be two start times, 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. This confirms the tournament’s growing importance: in the first edition, there were 190 registered players in this location.

As usual, participants received promotional gifts before the competition, which was played in a greensome this time. The winning couples were Pedro Jurado Gómez and Vicente Sánchez de Granda (category 1), and Félix González Salcedo and Ignacio González Salcedo (category 2). Both couples qualified for the tournament’s finals on the Costa del Sol on 29 November, when they’ll join the winners of the match on 27 April to make the eight-player team representing La Moraleja.

Before the cocktail party and award-giving ceremony, we made a presentation of Costa del Sol-Costa del Golf, emphasising infrastructure developments and the proximity to Madrid since the launch of the AVE-RENFE high-speed train.

The tournament’s next event –nearing the final stages– will take place at the Jarama R.A.C.E. club on 28 September.
